How this works in your browser
A QR code is a genuine encoding rather than a lookup: your content is converted into a bit stream, interleaved with Reed-Solomon error-correction data, and laid out into the module grid alongside the position, timing and format patterns that let a scanner orient itself. The error correction is what makes a centre logo possible, since those redundant bits can reconstruct modules the logo covers, and it is why higher levels tolerate more damage at the cost of density. All of this is computed in your browser, which is why the code has no expiry and no dependency on any service: there is no short link in the middle, and nothing to shut down. The SVG export draws the same grid as vector rectangles, so it stays exact at any print size.

Do these QR codes expire?
No. The content is encoded directly into the code rather than routed through a redirect service, so it works for as long as the destination is valid.
Will a center logo stop the code from scanning?
No, as long as error correction is medium or higher. The logo hides some modules, and the QR error-correction data fills in the gap - use Q or H if your logo is large.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG is ready for the web and most documents. SVG is a vector, so it stays perfectly sharp at any print size - use it for posters, packaging, or professional print work.
Can I encode Wi-Fi details?
Yes, most QR scanners recognise the Wi-Fi format and offer to connect directly when scanned.
Can I change where the code points after printing it?
No, and this is the honest trade against paid dynamic QR services. The destination is encoded in the pattern itself, so changing it means generating a new code. What you gain is that it never expires, never depends on someone else’s server staying online, and cannot be switched to point somewhere else without your involvement.
Why does more text make the code denser?
Because the data is genuinely inside the pattern. A short link produces a sparse grid that scans from across a room; a long URL packs in far more modules, each one smaller, so the code needs to be printed larger or scanned closer. Shortening the destination is the most effective way to keep a code scannable at small sizes.
What error-correction level should I choose?
Medium is right for most screen and paper use. Step up to Q or H when the code carries a centre logo, or when it will be printed on packaging, outdoors or anywhere it might be scuffed, since higher levels can reconstruct more of a damaged pattern at the cost of a denser grid.
How small can I print it?
Around two centimetres square is a practical floor for a short URL scanned from close range, and larger for anything longer or read from a distance. Always test with a real phone camera before printing a run, since a code that scans on screen can fail on paper.
