Your image is drawn onto a canvas at its full original resolution, then the text is rendered on top using the canvas text engine, which handles font metrics, line breaks and positioning natively. Working at full resolution matters: the text is drawn at the image’s real pixel size rather than at whatever scale the preview happens to show, so a caption on a 4000 pixel wide photo is genuinely sharp rather than an upscaled version of a small preview. The export flattens image and text into a single layer, which is why the caption cannot be edited afterwards. All of it runs in your browser, so screenshots containing internal or client information never leave your device.

My text is hard to read against the photo. What helps?
Pick a colour with real contrast against the area behind it rather than against the image overall, and move the text to a calmer region such as sky, a wall or open ground. Busy, high-detail areas defeat almost any colour choice.
Will the text look right on a small screen?
Size it relative to the image rather than to how it looks on your monitor. Text that fills a comfortable portion of the frame stays readable when the image is scaled down in a feed or a message thread; text that looks fine at full size often vanishes.
