How this works in your browser
The chart is drawn onto a canvas in your browser: axes and gridlines are computed from the range of your values, labels are positioned around the plot area, and each bar or line segment is rendered directly. There is no charting library involved, which keeps the page light and means the export is simply the canvas contents saved as PNG rather than a screenshot of a rendered widget. Because everything happens locally, unpublished figures, internal numbers and client data never leave your device, which is the practical difference between this and pasting the same numbers into an online chart builder.

Should I use a bar chart or a line chart?
Bars for comparing separate categories, such as sales by region or votes per option. Lines for showing change over time, where the connection between points genuinely means something. Using a line for unrelated categories implies a progression that is not there, which is the most common way a simple chart misleads.
Does the axis have to start at zero?
For bar charts, yes, and this is not a stylistic preference. A bar communicates its value through its length, so cutting the axis makes a small difference look enormous. Line charts showing a trend can reasonably start elsewhere, provided the axis is labelled clearly.
Can I edit the chart after downloading it?
No, the PNG is a flat image. Keep your numbers to hand and regenerate when they change, which takes seconds. For a chart you will revise repeatedly, a spreadsheet is the better home.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The chart is drawn in your browser, so figures you are not ready to publish are never transmitted.
